Talk to Us
I am not bound to win, but I am bound to live up to the energy that I have. — Abraham Lincoln

Dear friends, colleagues and fellow travellers,

Every institution I have ever walked into carries the same quiet ambition — to give the young people in its care a fair start in life. Since 2012, serving that ambition has been the whole of our work at Hungry Minds. Not software for its own sake. Software that gives a teacher back an hour, a parent back a journey, and a principal back the clarity to lead.

A promise made in Basti

We began in Basti, in Uttar Pradesh — a long way from where technology in this country usually arrives first. That was deliberate. Good tools have a habit of reaching the well-connected at the beginning and the rest of us at the end, if at all. We set out to reverse that order of arrival: to build for the school that still keeps its records in a register, for the first-generation learner whose family is betting everything on an education, for the institution that was told its needs were too small to be worth engineering for.

We have never accepted that a modest budget should mean a second-rate system. From our office in Basti and our branch in Tirunelveli, we have set out to prove the opposite.

The world changed. We changed with it.

The software we were proud of ten years ago was built for a slower world — long development cycles, thick manuals, a patient wait between asking for something and receiving it. That world has gone. Artificial intelligence has redrawn what is possible and, more importantly, what is expected. An institution that asks for a system today is right to ask for it now, not next year.

We could have defended our older products. We chose instead to rebuild around the way work is actually done today. Every platform we ship now has intelligence designed into it rather than bolted on afterwards — face recognition that marks attendance without anyone touching a device, assistants trained on an institution's own rules that answer admission and fee questions at midnight, systems that read a document, reconcile a payment, or flag the student who has quietly stopped attending before a human would have noticed.

Delivered in weeks, not years — and correct the first time

The second change is in how we build. Our engineers work alongside AI development tools, modern frameworks and automated testing, and the effect on delivery has been dramatic: work that once took a season now takes weeks, and a change a client asks for on Monday is frequently in their hands the same week. Speed of that kind is only worth having if the output is dependable, so every module we release is machine-tested and human-verified before it goes anywhere near a live campus. Our standard is not “mostly right”. In a fee ledger, an attendance register or a mark sheet, only 100% accuracy counts — and that is the bar we hold ourselves to on every delivery.

Our teams work in Python and FastAPI, in large language models and retrieval systems, in Java, PHP, React and Android, on cloud infrastructure that scales quietly in the background. The tools will change again — they always do. What will not change is our habit of learning the new one early and putting it to work for the institutions that are usually asked to wait the longest.

None of this alters why we do it. Faster delivery means a school waits less. Accuracy means a parent is never told the wrong thing about their child. AI, for us, is not a banner to fly — it is simply the best instrument yet invented for giving people back their time.

We do not measure ourselves in licences sold. We measure ourselves in the hour a teacher gets back, the journey a parent no longer has to make, and the decision a principal can finally take with confidence.

To the young people who will build what comes next

To every student who has sat in one of our robotics or coding classes, and to every young engineer who joins our team: you are capable of considerably more than you currently believe. Skill is not a gift handed out at birth. It is the residue of attempts — of things built badly, then built again, then built well. Begin before you feel ready. Stay curious longer than is comfortable. Learn to work with AI rather than around it — it will not replace the engineer who thinks, but it will comfortably outpace the one who refuses to learn. The country you will build is waiting on exactly that stubbornness.

Our commitment to you

Abraham Lincoln's words sit at the top of this page because they have kept me honest for a very long time. We will not win every contract, and we do not expect to. But we are bound — to every school, every college, every hospital and every business that trusts us — to bring the whole of the energy we have. That is the commitment behind every line of code we ship, and it is the one promise I will never ask you to take on faith. Hold us to it.

If something in your institution is slower, heavier or more manual than it ought to be, I would be glad to hear about it. Come and tell us. That conversation is where all of this began.

With warm regards and every good wish,
Mr Vasantharaj
